Weld County leaders and citizens alike filled the Welcome Center at Aims Community College last week for the first-ever State of the County event. The event highlighted Weld County\u2019s commitment and connection to the future by highlighting achievements and projects related to growth, transportation and quality of life. Commissioner Chair Kevin Ross delivered the remarks on behalf of the entire Weld County Board of Commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe state of our county is strong,\u201d said Ross. \u201cThe board of commissioners is committed to ensuring that it remains strong for generations to come.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speech first touched on growth, as Weld County is part of a region on the rise and one of the fastest growing counties in the state. It spoke to Weld County\u2019s continued commitment to work with municipalities on effective plans for development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The effort to improve infrastructure and transportation were other key focal points of the speech. Road construction projects completed and to be completed by the Weld County Department of Public Works were mentioned, along with partnerships between the county and municipalities to improve safety and efficiency of our transportation corridors throughout northern Colorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commitment to preserve a high quality of life for Weld County residents was also commended by Ross, with the Weld County Departments of Veterans Service, Public Health and Environment, and Human Services serving as high points. The efforts of each department reiterated a key goal behind all county services: \u201cservice to the people is at the heart of what we do in county government.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ross also discussed ways Weld County is poised to deal with future challenges \u2013 including much needed upgrades to county facilities, something being addressed through a facilities master plan. And because the quality of county services is dependent on talented county employees, both a compensation study and strategic plan are being utilized to ensure the county remains a top employer \u2014 with employees who are committed to serving residents in the best manner possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegardless of the topic, regardless of the program, regardless of the department, our goal remains the same: to provide innovative, cost-effective and responsive services. This motto drives our public service efforts and will continue to guide us moving forward,\u201d Ross said in closing. \u201cWe are motivated by compassion and a deep sense of responsibility to the people who call Weld County home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
