This term was coined<\/a> by United States President Theodore Roosevelt<\/a>, who referred to his office as a “bully pulpit”, by which he meant a terrific platform from which to advocate an agenda. Roosevelt used the word bully<\/a><\/em> as an adjective meaning “superb” or “wonderful”, a more common usage at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a foundational principle of mine to not overstep my boundaries or the authority given to me by the people of Weld County. Government must stay in its own lane! However, I do understand that constituents want to hear my voice even on matters where I do not possess authority. It is the right thing to do to utilize the bully pulpit<\/em><\/strong> that accompanies the office I hold.
