Remember, what you read here is just the show notes. They are references for me to (somewhat stay on track) and if I quote resources, I will no my best to provide links or at least rough references to that of which I speak.

The Seaons Are Changing

Today (Sunday, October 13) was one of those perfect fall days.

I like fall, but it always leave me melancholy.

This fall not only carries the typical melancholy due to the change of seasons, but also what I believe is the weight of a potential change in our nation.

What does God’s word say about the change of seaons…

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

In my assessment, this verse highlights the natural rhythms and seasons of life, emphasizing that everything has a time appointed by God.

You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set.

Psalms 104:19

While the actual author of Psalms 104 is unknown, many Biblical scholars think it was King David, which is my hope, because he is one of my Biblical heroes. In this, the Psalmist (David) praises God’s control over the natural world, with the moon and sun as markers of time and the changing of seasons. Meaning, God steadily, reliably and with precision controls all things.

He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.

Daniel 2:21

This verse not only speaks of physical seasons, but also metaphorically of God’s control over the rise and fall of nations and events in the world. It’s also a reminder that, regardless of the outcome on November 5th (or 6th or 7th or 8th, or whenever “they” can get the outcome they seek), it is by God’s design and according to his perfect plan.

But now it’s gonna get bad, now I go to Romans 1 (just read and lament about Romans 1: 18 – the end of the chapter, but for now, this)…

So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that s ould never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

Romans 1:24-29

We must know what time it is – we must stand up for the truth.

I was pretty candid in my comments about the 8th Congressional debate

U.S. Representative Yadira Caraveo and State Representative Gabe Evans debated on Kyle Clark’s program last week. I was very candid in my assessment of that debate HERE. I fully support Rep Evans, but not so much because I believe he will be an earthshaking, transformational legislator. He’s bright. Well spoken. Competent. Who knows, he might prove me wrong.

But most importantly, he can reliably fill the seat. More than Gabe’s personal ability, he’ll be a plus one on the R side of the aisle, and that represents a vote for freedom, not the tyranny and warped form of socialism that I believe the radical left would like to take us towards. I believe the U.S. Congress needs peacemakers, pragmatists and problem solvers. Caraveo has been a reliable vote for the left. A good soldier. Which is exactly what Gabe has sold himself as.

Be the We

I had the opportunity to talk to the all-staff Weld County Department of Human Services meeting on Friday. Listen to the podcast for my comments to them and for my challenge to you.
