Weekly Theme Reminder:
This week, we’re exploring God’s promise to always be with us, no matter what we face.
Welcome back to Jesus and the Average Joe! It’s Day 9 of our year-long journey through the Bible’s “Fear Not” reminders. Today’s verse, John 14:27, is a personal promise from Jesus: a peace that soothes troubled hearts and silences fear.
Have you ever felt like peace is just out of reach? Stress, worry, and uncertainty have a way of robbing us of calm. But Jesus offers something different in John 14:27: a peace that transcends what the world can provide.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
Jesus, in John 14:27
This peace isn’t tied to circumstances—it’s rooted in Him. When Jesus says, “I am leaving you with a gift,” He’s emphasizing the personal nature of this peace. It’s not earned or manufactured; it’s given freely.
I remember a season of life when anxiety seemed to follow me everywhere. The pressures of work and family felt overwhelming. But when I read this verse, I realized that peace wasn’t about solving every problem—it was about trusting the One who holds it all.
The world’s peace is temporary, but Jesus offers something enduring. His peace can calm your heart and silence fear, no matter what’s happening around you. Lean into His promise today and let it guard your heart and mind.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your peace. When fear or worry creeps in, help me to rest in the promise that Your peace is always available. Amen.
Challenge:
Write down John 14:27 and keep it with you throughout the day. Whenever stress arises, read it aloud and invite Jesus’ peace to fill your heart.
