-ATION. : Noun suffix. The action or process of doing something.

Britannica Dictionary

Frustration. Consternation. Trepidation. Indignation. All over the bloviation that exists in today’s political atmosphere. There is tremendous uncertainty. We have lost faith in our institutions. We don’t know who to believe.

As mentioned in the ScottCast – where do I think we’re at? Romans 1. Just Read verse 18 through the end of the chapter.

18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

That verse 24 really bothers me – So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. Is that where we are today? Revival or bust, baby. That abandonment – or at least a turning from God – is what I believe has led this nation, and especially the believers who observe the course of this nation, to feel all the ations.

We hear what they’re saying, and then we see what we’re seeing.

And the two don’t match. Especially when it comes to the southern border – and now the northern border, too.

The self-created immigration crisis is costing Americans $451 billion a year in the care of those here illegally.

The city of Denver keeps a running dashboard on the number of “migrants they have served.” Kinda like McDonald’s used to have a running total on the signs. By the way – the number of “migrants served” by Denver is nearly 40,000. 40,000 people would be the second largest municipality – only Greeley would be larger – in Weld County.

Weld County has fallen into the center stage after a Fox News Report on a Centers for Immigration Studies report that falsely indicates that Weld County is a sanctuary county. Yup. You follow that link and Weld County is listed there, big as day. The problem is, that it is simply not true. Weld County has never taken any action – passed any sort of code, ordinance, resolution, or proclamation – that indicates we will aide and abed those who are in this country illegally.

The Centers for Immigration Studies’ website says that the jurisdictions listed are there because…

…these cities, counties, and states have laws, ordinances, regulations, resolutions, policies, or other practices that obstruct immigration enforcement and shield criminals from ICE — either by refusing to or prohibiting agencies from complying with ICE detainers, imposing unreasonable conditions on detainer acceptance, denying ICE access to interview incarcerated aliens, or otherwise impeding communication or information exchanges between their personnel and federal immigration officers.

CIS Website

I am unsure as to exactly what in Weld County they are referring to. I have emailed the Center for Immigration Studies requesting a dialogue as to what they found in Weld County that placed us in their sanctuary classification. If it is a misunderstanding, I will ask for the incorrect listing to be removed immediately. If their findings are valid, I will work to change whatever it is in our code, ordinance, or policy they deem to make us a “sanctuary county” in nature.

I suspect it has to do with legislation passed by the Colorado General Assembly a few years back that would make EVERY county and municipality “sanctuary” by the CIS’s measurement.

This is House Bill 19-1124. It essentially forbids local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE to deal with those in the nation illegally. The one, “big chunk” thing we could do to re-equip local law enforcement to have the ability to fight those in our communities illegally would be to repeal this bill. That is the function of the state legislature. Not a city council member. Not a county commissioner. The state legislature. I am certain local government officials would work with you to eliminate this very bad, “stunt” of a piece of legislation. But only the state legislature can repeal it.

I appreciate the efforts Douglas County is taking – read about those HERE. I maintain a very sound relationship with all three Douglas County Commissioners and I will be in touch to see if there is a way Weld County can either join or duplicate their efforts. While I commend the DougCo County Commissioners on their creativity in endeavoring to write an ordinance prohibiting unscheduled passenger drop-off, I am unsure if a Board of County Commissioners would have the authority to regulate transportation. I just don’t think we do – but I’ll ask. (And the proper exercise of authority is what this is all about.”

You’ve taken away my rights!

No, I haven’t. “It’s censorship!” No, it’s not.

Yes, the Weld Board of County Commissioners suspended public comment. You can read about it in a bunch of places – HERE is a handy linked Google search.

I get the “ation – the indignation – you have over this – understandably so. Listen to the ScottCast for my comments, but please keep in mind that in this case, we believe life to be imitating art…

I could go on and on. I welcome your comments. Leave them below or on my social media. I’ll incorporate them into upcoming ScottCasts.
