Sanctuary Cities, Meet Your Federal Wake-Up Call

Written by Scott K. James

DOJ to sanctuary cities: follow immigration law or kiss your funding goodbye. It’s a federal slap across the face – and Colorado should take notes.

The DOJ just dropped a hammer on so-called sanctuary jurisdictions across the country, according to KDVR. If these feel-good havens for illegal entry don’t start cooperating with federal immigration authorities, they can kiss their federal funding goodbye. This move – unsurprisingly aligned with federal statute – isn’t new policy made up in someone’s basement. It’s what the law already says. And yes, it’s being enforced under Trump-era standards that prioritize – you guessed it – actually keeping communities safe.

The Bullet Point Brief

  • The DOJ is threatening to yank funds from sanctuary cities that don’t help enforce immigration laws.
  • These policies are rooted in long-standing federal statutes – not some MAGA fever dream.
  • Pam Bondi makes the case: public safety first, and letting criminals hide out in ‘safe spaces’ helps no one.
  • Polis and Colorado Dems keep ignoring this reality while the feds actually try to prioritize citizen safety.
  • Sanctuary policies = more crime and less accountability. But hey, at least everyone feels inclusive while getting mugged.

My Bottom Line

Here’s a wild idea: obey the damn law. That’s what this whole DOJ warning boils down to. Sanctuary jurisdictions act like they’re morally superior for ignoring immigration enforcement – but let me translate that nonsense into plain English: they’re helping criminals avoid justice because it earns them social media brownie points. That ain’t compassion; that’s cowardice wrapped in virtue-signaling ribbon.

And newsflash: this isn’t tyranny – it’s federal law enforcement saying, “Hey Jared… maybe stop building Disneyland for fugitives.” While Colorado Democrats are too busy turning our state into a real-time episode of Lawless & Clueless, at least someone in D.C. remembers what handcuffs are for. Pam Bondi spelled it out pretty clearly – this is about protecting citizens, not scoring points with Twitter activists who think borders are racist but lock their front doors every night.

I’ll say this loud enough for Denver City Council to hear over their e-bike subsidies: public funds should go to places that respect public safety laws. Period. If Polis and crew want to put open borders above Coloradans’ wellbeing, then maybe we oughta start turning off THEIR funding spigot too. Enough mollycoddling lawbreakers while legal citizens foot the bill.
