Denver on DHS Sanctuary City List – Because, Duh

Written by Scott K. James

DHS finally figured out what the rest of us already knew: Denver’s a sanctuary city no matter how many times Polis tries to Jedi mind trick us into thinking otherwise.

Another day, another episode of “The Gaslight Chronicles: Colorado Edition.” This article from KDVR reports that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (finally) added Denver to its list of sanctuary jurisdictions. The piece spotlights Governor Jared “Gaslight” Polis and his laughably tone-deaf denial that Colorado is a sanctuary state, even as his policies shout it from the mountaintops. Polis insists we “prioritize public safety” while simultaneously cuddling up to policies that put law-abiding citizens behind criminals who crossed the border illegally. Classic.

The Bullet Point Brief

  • DHS now labels Denver as one of its official “sanctuary jurisdictions.” Took them long enough.
  • Governor Polis says Colorado isn’t a sanctuary state, even though, plot twist, it totally is.
  • Polis claims local and federal law enforcement work hand-in-hand… sure, and I moonlight as a ballet dancer.
  • Weld and El Paso Counties were falsely slapped with the label on a previous list, because apparently mapping is hard.
  • Denver gets called out and suddenly everyone’s scrambling like roaches under a kitchen light.

My Bottom Line

Well well well, looks like somebody at DHS dusted off their prescription lenses and actually looked at the receipts. Denver’s on the list because they earned it fair and square with mail-order policies straight from AOC’s Tumblr page. But here’s the part that makes me want to throw my coffee mug into the nearest bureaucracy-spouting printer: Governor Gaslight puffing up his chest claiming we’re not really a sanctuary state. Buddy, you’re fooling no one but your Twitter followers and maybe that one guy who still thinks masks are fashionable.

Colorado has turned into a full-blown sanctuary warehouse. While Weld County fights to uphold our laws and protect our communities, Denver rolls out the red carpet for illegal border crossers with taxpayer-funded benefits and a big ol’ hug from City Council. Don’t insult our intelligence by saying you support public safety when your policies undermine ICE cooperation faster than Hunter Biden can forget his laptop password.

Polis splitting hairs over semantics while ignoring action is textbook political cowardice. You can say you’re not a sanctuary all you want, but if it walks like one, talks like one, burns taxpayer money like one, it’s wearing the damn badge whether you print it or not.
