Colorado’s Medicaid Budget Is A Taxpayer Dumpster Fire

Written by Scott K. James

Colorado’s Medicaid budget is ballooning like a hot air balloon on taxpayer fumes—and no one wants to talk about abortion, illegal immigrants, or gender surgery.

Colorado continues its impressive speed run into financial idiocy with this Denver Post piece from August 13th. The article bemoans how Colorado’s Medicaid costs are exploding – blaming inflation, population growth, and, surprise, surprise, the rollback of enhanced federal funding under Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. No mention of virtue signaling expanded services. No mention of the massive expansion since Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Written in the usual bureaucratic hand-wringing tone, it sidesteps more elephants than an Indiana Jones reboot.

The Bullet Point Brief

  • Colorado’s Medicaid budget is bloated like a frat boy after a Taco Bell binge.
  • Officials blame the ending of temporary federal aid instead of their own bloated promises.
  • No mention of cutting non-essential services like abortion-on-demand or free health care for folks who snuck across the damn border.
  • State Dems keep expanding coverage while complaining there’s no money – actual clown behavior.
  • Coloradans expected to bail out virtue-signaling policy with real tax dollars… again.

My Bottom Line

Oh look – Colorado’s Medicaid budget has gone full Hindenburg and everyone’s too polite to ask where all the jet fuel is coming from. I’ll give you a hint: It ain’t just inflation or Trump’s tax code rewrite. Maybe try looking at all those expanded services nobody wants to talk about in public, but everyone knows are draining the bucket dry.

This state hands out healthcare like candy at a parade. Free gender surgeries? Sure! Abortion on demand with zero moral reckoning? You got it! Healthcare for anyone who slips past Customs? Absolutely! Meanwhile, our working-class families can’t get basic services because their tax money is being lit on fire by woke policies wrapped in virtue-signal tinsel. If you want to stop the bleeding, then grow a spine and start by chopping off these political vanity projects. Provide MINIMUM necessary healthcare with MAXIMUM fiscal discipline. You’d be amazed at how fast that budget drops when you’re not using it to fund unicorn dreams and illegal utopias.

  • Ok I have to spout off about Medicaid. I work for HCPF and watch the ridiculous policy from the inside. You are right, we keep expanding services with no thought to any fiscal accountability. We take pride in spouting off about #healthcareforall. We have created a new name for illegals. They are now expansion population. What kind of bs virtue signaling is that? The lesbian Polis appointee that runs the show takes rainbow pride in forcing EDI down our throats with mandatory goals in our annual evaluations. We shift money from federal dollars to state dollars to hide all of the illegal programs we have from the feds. There is so much fraud hiding in leadership policy it’s disgusting.
