California School Board Bans Trans Athletes – Cue Liberal Meltdown

Written by Scott K. James

A California school board dared to protect girls’ sports by banning trans athletes – and now the state is throwing a fit. Welcome to clown world, where biology gets booed off the field.

In a rare moment of actual sanity coming out of California (yeah, I’m shocked too), A California school board just bucked state policy and voted to ban male athletes from competing in girls’ sports. Fox News Reporter Jackson Thompson writes that the Kern County Board of Education approved a resolution to align with the federal Title IX definition, staking out a direct challenge to Sacramento.

The vote lands in the middle of a broader fight between California and President Trump’s administration. Trump signed an executive order in February to block males from girls’ and women’s sports nationally. California defied it, continuing to let trans athletes compete under state law that has protected inclusion since 2014. Kern is the first public school board to openly side with the feds over the state on this issue.

The Bullet Point Brief

  • Kern County’s board voted to follow the federal Title IX definition and bar males from girls’ teams. First public school board to take that stand in California. That’s the kind of balls we need!
  • California had ignored Trump’s order and kept state inclusion rules. That led to multiple 2025 controversies, including track athlete AB Hernandez chasing two girls’ state titles.
  • Three prominent Christian high schools formally challenged CIF’s policy in May, arguing it forces them to act against their faith on the field.
  • DOJ is suing California and Maine, seeking injunctions against policies that allow males in girls’ sports and girls’ locker rooms. Two Maine boards passed local bans in April.
  • Newsom says the situation is unfair but refuses to back a ban. Meanwhile, a PPIC survey shows majorities of adults, likely voters and 71 percent of public school parents oppose males in girls’ sports. Politicians behind their voters again.

My Bottom Line

This is a battle victory in the larger culture war. It is not the whole war. Americans agree: males do not belong in women’s sports. That is not cruelty. That is reality, and pretending otherwise is a denial of biology and common sense. So why do liberal politicians cling to a narrative voters are rejecting. Because slogans are easier than standards, and hashtags are easier than hard choices.

Real Title IX means protecting girls’ lanes, locker rooms and scholarships. Period. Kern County just did what the state would not: choose fairness over fashion. More boards will follow if parents keep up the pressure. Celebrate the win. Then reload for the next vote, the next policy, the next courtroom skirmish. The other side never sleeps, and neither should anyone who wants women’s sports to remain women’s sports.
