Colorado AG Sues Trump… Again. Guess What for This Time?

Written by Scott K. James

Phil Weiser’s suing the Trump administration—shocker! This time, it’s over new ACA rules that exclude gender-affirming care. Translation: Colorado lawmakers want to virtue signal without footing the bill.

Another day, another taxpayer-funded tantrum from Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser. CPR News reports he’s once again hauling the Trump administration into court—this time because of a new Affordable Care Act rule change that says gender-affirming care isn’t an essential health benefit. Heaven forbid the feds stop fronting the cash for every progressive fever dream.

The Bullet Point Brief

  • Colorado AG Phil Weiser is suing the Trump administration over ACA updates—’cause that’s his hobby now. Plus, it’s how he campaigns.
  • New rule drops gender-affirming care from being a must-cover ACA benefit (gasp!).
  • States like Colorado would actually have to pay for that coverage themselves. Yep, with actual state money (your money).
  • The lawsuit claims it’s discriminatory; I claim it’s budgeting reality biting virtue signaling in the rear.
  • Remember the $1.2 billion shortfall in Colorado’s budget last year? Well, the General Assembly also found $4 million for Phil to campaign—I mean sue—with.

My Bottom Line

Oh look, Phil Weiser is suing Donald Trump again—what a plot twist! It must be Tuesday, or Thursday, or whatever day ends in “Y” when he’s looking for camera time on your dime. The guy’s turned lawsuits into his own personal brand of performance art, funded not by Hollywood donors but by Coloradans who can’t afford eggs AND this legal circus.

This lawsuit boils down to one thing: the feds said “Nope” to paying for gender ideology under Obamacare—so now Colorado’s on the hook if it wants to keep playing Dr. Woke with your insurance premiums. And suddenly all those proud declarations from our Legislature turn into awkward glances as they realize someone’s gotta foot the bill—and spoiler alert—it’s YOU.

Here’s a thought: maybe instead of funneling millions into woke legal fights and symbolic Medicaid flag waves, we actually fix real healthcare problems—you know, like doctor shortages or mental health access in rural communities. But no—we get moral posturing wrapped in litigation served up cold… again. Meanwhile, Weiser gets headlines and your checking account takes another hit.
