No Weapon Will Prevail

Written by Scott K. James

Facing cancel culture head-on? Isaiah 54:17 arms you with confidence as you speak biblical truth in a world boldly eager to silence faithful voices.

“But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
—Isaiah 54:17 (NLT)

I have been politically aware and an avowed conservative since I was a senior in high school, and a man named Ronald Reagan was running for president. He spoke to me. But I have always been somewhat “quiet” in my conservatism. Restrained in expressing my Biblical world view.

That became a necessity as a music radio air personality. It didn’t matter whether they were Democrats or Republicans, I needed them to listen. So my views as a conservative Christian went largely unexpressed.

I won my first election to the Johnstown Town Council in 2002. I was elected Mayor in 2016 and County Commissioner in 2018 and again in 2022. While my positions on the issues regarding municipal and county government were well established, I still don’t believe my political viewpoints and Biblical worldview were openly stated.

Since I retired from the radio business in July 2023, the muzzle has come off. I now openly state my opinions on national, state, and local affairs. Since I started being more open about my beliefs—calling out woke lunacy on social media, reminding anyone who would listen that I am a Parental Rights Extremist, and pointing out that Big Tech’s “community standards” read like ransom notes—the attacks have come fast and furious. Smears, snarky subtitles, and the occasional moral grandstanding: it’s like I’m public enemy number one in the court of public opinion.

But here’s the gospel truth: Isaiah 54:17 is our battle cry. Every cancel-culture guillotine, every hashtag witch-hunt, every policy assault designed to muzzle the faithful—none of it sticks. God promises that no weapon forged to silence us will succeed.

Why You Should Suit Up and Speak Up

  1. Global Inflation Circus
Politicians juggle your paycheck, raise taxes to “fund the future,” and blame “economic headwinds.” Meanwhile your grocery bill looks like a Bitcoin price chart. Don’t let them gaslight you into gratitude for crumbs.
  2. Border Meltdown
Endless debates over “comprehensive reform” while cartel bosses get the green light. You deserve secure borders and accountable leadership—not virtue-signaling photo-ops.
  3. Culture-Redefining Rodeo
From redefining marriage to redefining manhood, the cultural bulldozers run wild. They slap “tolerance” stickers on ideological bulldozers and call dissent “hate speech.”

When you speak up—whether at the dinner table, the ballot box, or the town-hall mic—you’re not diving into a debate; you’re armed with divine promise: that God will silence every accusing tongue raised against you, so long as you speak His truth and revealed in His Holy Word.

How to Fight the Good Fight (Without Becoming a Jerk)

  • Ground Your Words in Scripture
Quote Isaiah, Ephesians, or that verse you memorized in kid’s church. Facts help, but God’s Word wins hearts.
  • Call Out Hypocrisy, Even in Your Own Corner
Nobody’s perfect. If your side does a dumb thing—call it. Moral clarity, not moral superiority.
  • Champion the Party of Flourishing
Build up family, faith, free markets, and freedom of speech. Don’t just tear down the bulldozers; plant gardens in their place.

So when those cancel mobs come sniffing—when the media vultures circle, sharpened to pick at your words—remember: no weapon. Every tweet, every op-ed, every scathing meme they craft to destroy you—that weapon will fail. They’ll run out of ammunition before your faith runs dry.

Rise up. Speak out. And watch the Lord Himself hush the clatter of accusers. Your vindication isn’t in retweets or trending tags—it’s in the timeless mercy of the One who vouches for you.

Suit up, soldier. The fight for the good, the true, and the beautiful awaits.
