I used to love to go to the movies. That has been squelched, as of late. Hollywood got more self-righteous and agenda-driven. Then the massive excuse of COVID hit – and I haven’t been to see a movie in a couple years. I saw Nefarious when Steve Deace produced that. And it had been several years before that since I had been in a theater.

I am taking the week after the 4th of July off. We’re not going anywhere – “staycating” – but we’re talking about going to see a few movies. Huh?! Finally, after years of Hollywood’s indoctrination campaign (Save Top Gun: Maverick, of course), there are a few things worth seeing.

Julie has me going to see Kevin Costner’s new movie on the 4th of July after the parade. It’s a western epic (Waterworld on horseback?) and apparently, it sucks. But Julie digs Costner and I like him, too, so we’re off to the movies after the parade.

Sounds of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot has opens on the 4th of July. We’re adaptive parents, we have a massive heart for adoption, and this movie looks up our ally. We’ll be going to see that during our stay-cation. It’s based on a true story of people who decided to do something. Glory – what a world – of people would just decide to do something.

If I have a “man crush,” it’s Mike Rowe. Mike is that rare mix of intelligence, relate-ability, common-sense, and pragmatism, all in one ruggedly handsome package. Plus, game recognizes game – he has a killer voice. I like what he stands for, probably because we stand for many of the same things.

Mike is promoting a new movie called Something to Stand For. Julie just texted me and said we’re going tonight. I’ll let you know. I go to movies to feel something. Hopefully inspired. This looks like it might fill the bill – I’ll let you know.

I am the same way, I don’t support the libiots. You can’t go wrong with Mike Rowe. Enjoy!
