How many millions must it cost? How many crimes must be committed? How many lives must be up-ended? When will the virtue signaling end? Because now Mayor Mike Johnston’s continued virtue signaling will result in cuts to public safety.

Biden’s refusal to secure the southern border is the source of the problem, granted, and the humanitarian crisis is very, very real. But the continued sanctuary status only exasperates the problem. So control what you can control and repeal it. When will Denver citizens demand it.

I am proud to have worked with a citizen’s group, Weld County department heads and our county attorney to craft actual code that will forbid Weld County from expending dollars to fund this crisis. We’re not a sanctuary county. We never have been. And now its in our code that we never will be. Read more here.

When will Denver citizens demand this insanity stop?

What I am reading: Police, fire departments hardest hit by mayor’s proposed budget cuts, report says in the Denver Gazette. My five bullet point summary:

  • The proposed budget cuts by the Mayor disproportionately affect the police and fire departments, highlighting a disregard for public safety.
  • This reduction of funds will no doubt hamper the operational efficiency of these key services in maintaining law and order.
  • The budget cuts could negatively affect the recruitment and retention of police and fire department personnel, potentially risking the city’s security.
  • The Mayor’s decision seems hasty and ill-advised, without considering the long-term impacts on the quality of important emergency services.
  • It’s crucial that we scrutinize these decisions which endanger our communities and question the priorities of our leaders
